High school level of knowledge. Graduated from a Nursing Assistant program.
One year or more experience as a Nurse Assistant preferable. Computer experience preferred. Works effectively with others, possess tact, discretion and diplomacy. Ability to work under stress and complete duties sometimes with numerous interruptions. Must be able to read and write at a 12th grade level to document in residents record, I & O sheets, behavior record, etc. Must be able to write legibly and be able to accurately document the type of care given. Must be able to communicate information to supervisor and co- workers. May need to work beyond scheduled hours when necessary. Must be familiar with equipment used to move residents, take vital signs and document. Ability to understand printed health related material. BLS certification preferred. New York State Department of Health Certification or eligible for certification as a Long Term Care Nursing Assistant.
