Position Summary

The Physical Therapy Lab Director will work with the core faculty members in the entry level physical therapy program. This individual will be a Laboratory subject matter expert responsible for tasks assigned by the department chair and core faculty including teaching and assessment of clinical skills and competencies of the entry level students within the DPT program.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Assist core faculty in laboratory instruction on entry-level skills for the DPT students enrolled in the professional program.

  2. Provide open lab hours as determined by the department chair to review and assess clinical skill competencies.

  3. Participate in proctoring exams.

  4. Maintain clinical labs and available storage area with course-specific equipment and supplies.

  5. Maintain an inventory list of clinical lab equipment and supplies and order lab supplies necessary for providing the curricular outcomes.

  6. Assist the Department Chair in developing and maintaining a budget for supplies.

  7. Schedule routine calibration and maintenance of equipment and recommend updates.

  8. Coordinate the utilization of the physical therapy-designated laboratory equipment with the other programs.

  9. Recommend to the Department Chair the hire of work study students for laundry and lab maintenance.

  10. Supervise student employees for laundry and lab maintenance.

  11. Works closely with department chair to develop and implement operational goals that support departmental success.

  12. May perform other duties as assigned by the department chair.

Education & Experience Qualifications

The successful candidate should have a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT)

and a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience

Minimum Skills/Abilities

  1. Experience in Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy. Advanced certification is preferred.

  2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  3. A strong commitment to diversity of our students, faculty, and staff.

  4. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
