Position Summary Information
Position Summary
Develops and delivers a comprehensive range of career development services for students and recent alumni and actively establishes and maintains relationships with employers. Supervises office staff. Leads outreach efforts to develop partnerships through collaboration. Articulates the mission and goals of the Center to all constituents. Manage engagements with departments, offices, and programs that support students, especially underrepresented student populations, as the grow in their career development and readiness.

Major Responsibilities
A. Daily Administrative/Program Management
Supervises all aspects of the daily operations and provides administrative decisions and guidance to ensure successful office functioning in the following areas: Pioneer Pitch-In, and Career Development.
Generates reports and performance information regarding Career Services activities.
Supervises and develops staff who are capable of providing exemplary customer service to all constituents.
Leads staff in developing specialized knowledge of emerging fields, changing employment trends, and updated laws/policies.
Prepares and monitors departmental budgets and approves operating expenses.
Oversees the use of computerized systems including web-based career services software, office website, databases, Internet resources, and career guidance software.
Provides innovative direction and strategic management for the career library, experiential education resources, preparation for full-time and part-time employment, and preparation for graduate and professional school.
Designs and implements tools for efficient office operation.
Directs the coordination of university and community-wide fairs and programming.
Participate and engage in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and programs, including but not limited to serving on DEI committees, serving as a diversity advocate or community liaison for a job search, advising a club, facilitating DEI-related training, and engagement in institutional cultural and celebratory events and programming.
Takes an active role in the development of the department’s strategic and operational plans as required by department leadership.
Works closely with department supervisor to develop and implement operational goals that support departmental success.
Responsible for working with supervisor and other team members to achieve successful results on all established individual and departmental goals and key performance indicators.
May perform other related duties as assigned.
B. Marketing
Directs marketing and outreach on campus and to employers.
Oversees and contributes to the cultivation of relationships with alumni and employers to provide opportunities for students and recent alumni.
Coordinates and approves design of all promotional materials.
Develops and fosters collaborative working relationships with faculty, academic deans, graduate programs, Student Affairs directors, Institutional Advancement, Alumni and Parent Relations, and student leaders.
Networks with other colleges to provide career opportunities for Utica students through consortium programs.
Explores revenue opportunities for Career Services operations.
Attends meetings, socials, and community events in order to network with influential alumni, trustees, and potential employers.
Serves as primary media spokesperson for career development programs/issues.
C. Student Career Coaching and Development
Creates, develops, and presents developmentally appropriate seminars and workshops.
Efficiently critiques student resumes, cover letters and provides mock interviews, followed by constructive feedback.
Coach students in regard to all career development topics, including the use of computerized career guidance and self-directed counseling techniques.
Advises students of updated laws, policies, ethical issues and trends of recruitment and the employment process.
Develops resources for and facilitates outreach programming to a diverse campus community that includes growing international student, graduate student, online student, and recent alumni populations.

This position requires occasional travel. Valid NYS License required.

Education & Experience Qualifications
Master’s degree and five years related professional experience required
Demonstrated expertise in career services required
Demonstrated expertise with technology applications required
Graduate work in college student development, counseling, higher education administration or business preferred
Leadership in related professional associations preferred
Experience working with online student populations preferred
Minimum Skills/Abilities
Demonstrated ability to provide vision, leadership, and creative program development.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
A strong commitment to diversity and works continually to enhance diversity of our students, faculty, and staff.
Attention to detail, high energy, with ability to multi-task
Flexible with regard to time availability and special assignments.
Must travel occasionally. Valid NYS License required.
