Responsibilities and Functions:

  • Provide intake, assessment, individual, couples, and group counseling for undergraduate and graduate students of Russell Sage College.

  • Provide crisis intervention and referral of students to mental health facilities as needed.

  • Lead skill building groups

  • Refer students for psychiatric evaluations as needed.

  • Serve as a consultant regarding mental health issues for the Dean of Students, Residence Life staff, and faculty.

  • Participate in Wellness Center and Mental Health staff meetings

  • Participate in the training and on-going support of campus constituents.

  • Participate in wellness initiatives to support the well-being of Russell Sage College

  • Other duties as assigned.

This is a 20 hour/week, 9 month/year position, following the college calendar.

The estimated hourly rate is $25.00 per hour for 20 hours per week for 40 weeks.

Job Requirements:

Educational Requirements: Position requires a Masters degree in Social Work or Counseling from an accredited program, and being licensed to practice independently (ie LCSW, LMHC, etc) in the State of New York.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous training and experience in a college or university counseling center preferred. Qualities of the preferred candidate include but are not limited to possession of: assessment skills, well-developed brief counseling and crisis intervention skills; a collaborative spirit of warmth and acceptance, and a commitment to high professional ideals.
