This full-time 12-month position reports to the Associate Vice President for Student Life for Student Wellness and is responsible to provide direct services to students with disabilities, coordinate accommodation requests, and provide leadership across campus areas to ensure accessibility, equity, and inclusivity.
Specific responsibilities include:
Ensure that students with disabilities who experience barriers in the design of College programs, services, and facilities have equal access through the provision of accommodations
Communicate about disability-related services and documentation requirements to current and prospective students, administration, faculty, staff, parents, and others
Maintain current knowledge of assistive technology, software, and alternate text formats in order to provide access to students as needed
Foster a culture of awareness, compliance, and academic excellence
Collaborate with members of the Russell Sage community to offer training for faculty, staff, and student leaders in equitable universal design and other practices that promote disability justice
Advise institution of necessary physical and technical access needed for students with accessibility needs and considerations
Supervise and evaluate work of administrative support staff, including part-time staff and graduate students
Lead campus disability support initiatives and accessibility planning efforts in collaboration with relevant College offices
Provide referrals to community agencies
Seek funding support for students who need accommodation and assistive/adaptive technology
Assess progress toward accessibility and inclusion goals
Oversee departmental budget
Assist with other College duties as assigned
The estimated salary range is $58,458 to $60,405 per year for 40 hours per week for 52 weeks.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
Bachelors in Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Ed. or related field required. Masters preferred.
A minimum of 3 years of experience serving the needs of culturally diverse and ability diverse student populations with an equity and inclusion lens.
Experience evaluating the needs of students with disabilities in higher education, and providing appropriate accommodations
Demonstrated experience working with individuals with a variety of accommodation needs and learning needs.
Administrative experience in an educational environment. Strong oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of FERPA, ADA, Section 504, Title IX, the Higher Education Act, and the latest Office of Civil Rights (OCR) guidance is essential to this role
