JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Maintenance Aide follows directions and performs duties to maintain a safe, clean, and secure environment in the facility and grounds. The Maintenance Aide assists in transport of staff to and from designated pick-up and drop-off sites utilizing a company-owned vehicle.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adequately performs duties assigned, such as repairing and installing all equipment, floors, walls, ceilings, etc.
Cleanliness of his/her work area is required, and proper and safe use of tools and equipment is expected
Responsible for the general safety and security of the nursing facility, furnishings, and equipment
Provides maintenance management through regular equipment inspections while upholding facility maintenance inspection processes & procedures and attending to all daily maintenance requests for each department
Performs necessary repairs to the building, including but not limited to painting, drywall repairs, plumbing repairs, electrical repairs, ceiling tile replacement, window and screen replacement, etc.
Performs generator testing and fire drills; checks/maintains patient lifts, oxygen concentrators, suction machines, fire extinguishers, and sharps container inspections.
Takes water temperatures and assists in safeguarding the security of the facility
Answers maintenance calls/requests, performing needed repairs as indicated and in a timely manner
Transports staff to and from designated pick-up and drop-off sites utilizing the facility vehicle
Performs any other duties necessary as assigned by the Environmental Services Manager
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 18 years of age
Valid Driver's License
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Excellent customer service skills
Able to work with tools, ladders, and maintenance supplies as directed
Able to work under minimum supervision while cooperating with departmental heads and other staff members
Problem-solving skills in maintenance requests
Good physical strength for heavy lifting and other related tasks
Respect for residents’ privacy and rights; display of genuine concern and empathy for the elderly
Ability to read and understand work assignments, as well as report verbally and provide written documentation as necessary
Able to perform tasks while upholding high standards of quality, cleanliness, and kindness
Qualities of responsibility and diplomacy
