Falk College seeks a part-time instructor to teach MFT 777 M700 Persons in Social Contexts (3 credits) in the Spring 2024 (1/9/2024-5/12/2024) semester. Course Description: Theoretical orientation and skills required for social work practice of community economic development in urban and rural settings.

Additional Course Description:

This course provides students with an advanced understanding of community economic development in urban and, to a lesser focus, rural areas, within a social work framework. Throughout the semester, emphasis will be placed on toe usage of a variety of community economic development tools. Social and cultural factors including race, class, and gender are placed at the center of community development approaches and are woven into the course throughout the semester. Correspondingly, social work values of self-determination, advocacy and social justice form the basis upon which various practitioner approaches and methods are developed.

The course is operated as a discussion-style seminar, and students are expected to participate intensively in class discussions and during student and guest presentations.
