POSITION SUMMARY:

The role of Facilities Services Maintenance Intern was established for the purpose/s of assisting Mechanics who perform maintenance services with a focus on training in a wide variety of skilled maintenance duties: (e. g. carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, alarms – Direct Digital Control, Pevco Tube System, Fire System Control, Medical Gas System, Generator Systems and Computer Monitoring Systems boilers, etc.)

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

High School graduate or recognized equivalent plus formal trade/vocational school training.

Participates in orientation, on-the-job training and continuing education in order to maintain the knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:

Industrial setting: Clinical setting occasionally. Exposure Class I. Routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions. Occasional exposure to situations that could cause moderate to serious injury or illness, including but not limited to use of hand tools, power tools, materials and equipment cleaning utilizing various cleaning solutions.

SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:

  • Assists with emergency response to all hospital mechanical systems as required

  • Assists with general plumbing, electrical and HVAC functions

  • Performs routine Preventive Maintenance and repair on all plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems

  • Supports construction / renovation project installations as assigned

  • Performs general cleaning of maintenance areas and mechanical rooms

  • Works efficiently and completes assigned tasks in a timely manner

  • Projects a positive and professional image of self and the hospital

  • Studies and reviews blue prints, schematics, and drawings for the purpose of determining the efficient installation of new or upgraded systems

  • Assists with and receive training in a variety of skilled trade functions (e.g. plumbing, painting, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects within established time frames

  • Provides support during installation of plumbing, electrical & HVAC systems

Pay Rate: $16.20

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location
