Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

Responsible for cleaning, decontaminating, processing, assembling, sterilizing, storing and distributing the medical devices required for patient care in compliance with Infection Control Policies and Procedures. Central Service Technicians provide support to all applicable patient-care areas and offsite locations.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Graduation of a Central Service Technician Course is required. Demonstrated experience, to include internship hours. Successful completion of the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution ( CBSPD ) certification is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience preferred.

Physical Demands

Ambulatory – 95%

Sedentary- 5%

Subject to stress and fatigue

Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye hand coordination when working with patients and equipment.

Subject to repeated bending, squatting and stooping.

Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range

Intermittent or frequent exposure to one or more mildly unpleasant physical conditions.

Hazards of working with detergents.

Involves routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions.

Must be able to lift 50 lbs and operate equipment.
