SUNY Suffolk’s Visual Arts Department is seeking reliable and serious-minded individuals to serve as Life Drawing Models for its figure drawing classes during the 2024/2025 academic year at the Ammerman Campus in Selden, New York.

The successful candidate will pose for art students during class, enabling them to practice and improve their drawing skills. This role is critical in the students’ educational experience, helping them understand human anatomy, movement, and expression through observational drawing.

  • Models will be provided with appropriate facilities to change and prepare for sessions.

Classes are held in a studio art classroom with students. Poses may be held standing, sitting, or reclining, accommodating the model’s needs, with frequent breaks provided.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to hold a pose for up to 20 minutes at a time.

  • Comfort with one’s body as a subject of observational study in an academic setting.

  • Good physical condition to maintain stillness in poses.

  • Ability to work well with instructors and students.

  • Previous experience as a figure drawing model is not required, but preferred.

    HIRING SALARY:

$21/hour
