SUNY Schenectady County Community college is seeking a part-time Coordinator for our Workforce Development and Community Education. Reporting to the Director of Workforce Development, the Coordinator of Workforce Development is primarily responsible for overall programming directly related to the areas of professional and career workforce preparation and business and industry training. The coordinator is responsible for the planning, scheduling, implementation, and evaluation of programs, including the selection, assignment and supervision of faculty and trainers used in facilitating these programs. The incumbent does have supervisory responsibilities over part time instructors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Coordinator of Workforce Development assumes responsibility for the following Workforce Development activities:

  • Develops, implements, and directs contract education programs with emphasis on collaboration and workforce preparation.

  • Coordinates the development and implementation of education and training programs designed to serve the needs of business and industry, including planning, implementation, and fiscal and evaluation functions.

  • Works with Academics to create articulation agreements and ways to direct Workforce Development students to certificate and two-year programs.

  • Coordinates the development of programming between the College and other education and community agencies serving targeted populations within the College's service area.

  • Develops proposals, contracts, and grants for external funding of workforce development, business and industry, and public service initiatives as may be prioritized by the College for implementation to meet its mission and goals.

  • Maintains currency regarding New York State funding policies and procedures for training and re-training programs and ensures efficient realization of state aid revenues from programs within area of responsibility.

  • Provides leadership to such areas as workforce education, welfare reform, Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act, and related federal/state initiatives.

  • Coordinates the College's initiatives with the Workforce Development Boards, One Stops and Departments of Labor.

  • Represents the College and conducts outreach within the community and the region by attending meetings and networking activities as well as serving on consortia and boards with missions reflective of the workforce investment and workforce development interests of the college.

  • Partners with the Workforce Development Boards to develop and implement educational programs within Albany and Schenectady Counties and the greater service region, as driven by request, needs and emerging opportunities.

  • Performs administrative functions that may be necessary for the routine operation of the Division of Workforce Development.

  • Integrates with and becomes knowledgeable of the overall programming of the Workforce Development Division.

  • Provides the information for scheduled offerings in the workforce preparation, business and industry training, and public service areas necessary for the preparation and printing of the Program Guide.

  • Ensures the accuracy and currency of web page information related to the Workforce Development area of responsibility.

  • Participates in Faculty Governance committees, search committees, and other task forces as may be necessary for the effective operation and cross-divisional communications of the College.

  • Works with both Credit and Non-Credit students to assist and facilitate admission and provide ongoing academic guidance to achieve the students' educational goals.

  • Assumes additional duties as may be assigned by the Director of Workforce Development

  • Coordinate and oversee a variety of testing/assessments ie: GED, ESOL, Prometric, Institute of Brewing & Distilling, National Healthcareer Association (NHA), etc.

    Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree

  • Four years of related experience

  • Commitment to the development of workforce preparation and public service programming

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Direct experience in business and industry training

Special Information:

  • VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.

  • Offers of employment will be conditional based on the successful completion of a background check and verification of official College transcripts.

    Additional Information:

Salary: $16.38/hour - $18.20/hour (depending on qualifications)
