Skidmore College Temporary Assistant Supervisor of Dining Services in Saratoga Springs, New York

Summary

Skidmore College Dining Services is currently accepting applications for a Temporary/Part-Time Assistant Supervisor. Under the general direction of the Assistant Director, this position provides morning and afternoon support to ensure the smooth operation of Dining Services. The Assistant Supervisor will train and manage 15-20 full-time union employees, along with approximately 30 student employees. This role is also responsible for overseeing food preparation to ensure meals are delivered on time while exceeding sanitation and safety standards. Additionally, the Assistant Supervisor will coordinate various functions in both the front and back of the house, as well as catered events, to provide exceptional service to students, faculty, staff, and the broader Skidmore community.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with daily opening procedures and ensures appropriate coverage at all stations throughout the Murray-Aikins Dining Hall.

  • Provides active management by consistently moving between Murray-Aikins signature dining stations and retail locations.

  • Monitors employee locations and production, ensuring compliance with the collective bargaining agreement.

  • Ensures all employees adhere to the policies and procedures set by Skidmore College and Dining Operations.

Qualifications:

  • College/University Food Service Management experience preferred

  • Servsafe HACCP Certification required

  • Anti-harassment workshop training required upon hire

  • Must understand importance of excellent customer service and cost controls

  • Experience in managing catered events

  • Experience with unions preferred

Education: Associate's degree in a related field with 5 years of progressive management experience or equivalent.

Hourly rate: $25 for up to 30 hours per week.
