General Description

SUNY Niagara is participating in an OPWDD grant for providing instruction to employees of community agencies with Direct Support Professionals to complete the NADSP DSP -I and DSP -II Certifications. The part-time instructor will co-teach courses with a lead professor in Human Services including Direct Support Professional – Level I and II Prep and Human Services Internship courses.

Applicants must be able to attend in-person meetings, professional development, and other obligations on the Sanborn campus even if teaching online.

Remuneration for persons teaching at least 3 credits in a semester: $915 per lecture hour/$819 per lab hour.

Typical Work Activities

  • Co-teach courses in the delivery format agreed upon (on campus, hybrid, blended, or online)

  • Hold office hours (in person or virtual as appropriate)

  • Track attendance

  • Complete census reports

  • Report on student learning outcomes at the end of the semester

  • Report grades at the conclusion of the semester

    Essential Functions

Ability to work with and teach a diverse student population. Must be able to communicate effectively with students, co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare, and present information. Must be able to operate computers and must adjust any teaching to the Americans with Disabilities Act provisions.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in social work, counseling, rehabilitative services, health care, psychology, or a related field OR5 years experience in the field of Direct Support and a bachelor’s degree in a helping, health care, or related profession.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Prior teaching experience at the college level,

  • Experience with classroom technologies,

  • Conducted employee training within your agency.
