Job Function:

This position primarily oversees the search and recruitment process for teaching faculty, non-teaching professional staff, administrative, and support staff positions. In addition, this position involves processing and maintaining personnel records including researching, compiling, and calculating data. Responsibilities also include resolving problems regarding compensation and payroll. The employee reports directly to and work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative or supervisory employee. Work is submitted in its final form when completed. Does related work as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and supports search process for teaching faculty, non-teaching professional staff, administrative, and support staff positions.
  • Processes Human Resource Action workflows on salary/charging for all new appointments, reappointments and compensation on MCC employees, collaborating with other Human Resources staff members and Payroll staff members, as needed.
  • Audits/verifies personnel information for accuracy and required reporting.
  • Acts as the primary liaison to Monroe County Civil Service on recruitment, classification, and examination matters.
  • Generates computerized reports and processes electronic personnel-related forms using, for example, Banner (the College's HRIS), Dynamic Forms, and Adobe.
  • Researches and responds to personnel and search related questions via email/phone/in-person appointment and/or walk-ins.
  • Interprets contract language and advises employees.
  • Implements and maintains best practices, policies and procedures in human resources to ensure consistency, equity, and accuracy.
  • Fosters a culture that promotes collaboration, belonging, and mutual respect among employees.
  • Assists Associate Director or Executive Director with assigned special projects within the scope of the Personnel Assistant title, as needed.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

Must currently hold the civil service title of Personnel Assistant or be on the current eligible list for this title OR meet the following minimum qualifications to be eligible for a provisional appointment, if offered:

  • Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
    • Graduation with an Associate's degree or successful completion of sixty (60) college semester credit hours, plus two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent office clerical experience involving human resources, payroll, or benefits compensation activities; OR,
    • Four (4) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience as outlined in (A) above; OR
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
  • Resident of Monroe County

Note to provisional candidates: The successful candidate must meet the above minimum qualifications in order to take the next Civil Service exam offered for this title. The candidate must pass the exam and be reachable on the eligible list to be appointed permanently into this title.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior Civil Service hiring experience.
  • Experience in employee recruiting
  • Former experience working in Higher Education and knowledge of search process.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources office terminology, practices, procedures, and equipment.
  • Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records.
  • Ability to research and compile data, and enter data accurately.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of personnel-related information.
  • Prior experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently



Additional Information:

Job Type: Full-Time

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:45am to 4:45pm

Salary: $54,309.67 per year (eligible for increment at six months of service and a 3% increase effective 9/1/25)

Pay Transparency Disclaimer: The posted salary range represents the full salary scale for this position, which includes all pay steps within the range. The starting salary for all new hires is typically at the entry-level figure, as determined by the step placement of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Progression through the range occurs over time based on established criteria such as length of service and performance. This range is provided to give applicants an understanding of the potential earnings over the course of a career in this role.
