Position Summary: As a member of the St. John’s Protective Services Team, The Protective Services Officer provides safety and protection to residents, visitors and employees by participating in regular Facility checks to ensure safety of facility and grounds. Responsibilities include:

  • Monitors the grounds and building to ensure safety.

  • Secures residents’ belongings.

  • Maintains and assures safe handling and proper care of protective services equipment.

  • Assists with all emergencies until properly relieved.

  • Enforces traffic and parking rules.

  • Monitors SJH fire system.

  • Monitors door & assistance alarms.

  • Leads the way in customer service and answers SJH phone system.

  • Investigates & reports unsafe practices or conditions.

  • Assist in conducting major & minor investigations of incidents and/or accidents.

  • Make safety inspection tours of the facility as assigned.

  • Provide escorts of employees when necessary.

    Qualifications:

  • High School degree or equivalent is required.

  • Valid NYS driver license with ability to meet agency driving standards required.

  • NYS Security Guard License required.

  • Current eight- and sixteen-hour course certificates preferred.

  • CPR & AED certificate preferred.
