University of Rochester Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation - Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

This newly created position will be responsible for the Brain Injury consult service and the overall management of the psychiatric and behavioral needs of the patients on the Brain Injury Unit. This includes the supervision of 8 Rehab Behavior Techs, providing them with behavior plans and education/instructions to implement plans. Specific responsibilities include consult service management of all aspects of the Brian Injury consult service consisting of 4-5 rotating providers and 2 residents, and coordinating information from multiple sources to assess patients’ for IRF admission appropriateness. The APP will be responsible for manage and direct the daily activities of the behavior Techs on the inpatient brain injury unit. This includes assessing patient’s needs, developing behavior plans and directing behavior techs to implement these plans. Daily rounding on a select number of patients to manage their mental health and behavioral conditions. Working with Patients, families and the care team to explain treatment plans in team and family meeting. As the APP will be working and coordinating with a multitude of teams and providers, strong communications skills are essential.

Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner

Require a Master’s degree (or pending) as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active/pending New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current/pending national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.

Physician Assistant

Requires completion (or pending) of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active/pending New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current/pending national certification as a Physician Assistant by the NCCPA ( National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)

NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relations skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $44.71 - $67.07

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
