Job Function:

Assist staff with the delivery of services. Provide general office support with a variety of clerical activities and related tasks. This position will need to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously and produce high-quality work with minimum supervision. Provide excellent customer service in front desk coverage and triage. Cultivate a welcoming, inclusive environment for all students and visitors.

Primary Functions:

  • Provide a welcoming environment to students and visitors

  • Serve as receptionist: greet visitors, check in students, answer phones, schedule Starfish appointments

  • Triage student needs to various departments throughout the College

  • Assist students with basic functions, such as completing admissions application; printing enrollment verifications, etc.

  • Supervise student workers at the front desk

  • Serve as a department web liaison; update website, as needed

  • Ability to use DegreeWorks and Banner (Self Service and Production)

  • Train new front desk staff

Secondary Functions:

  • Collaborate with student workers to assist students with basic functions

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director

    Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Must currently hold the title of Office Clerk II or be reachable on the Civil Service Eligibility list titled Office Clerk II, or meet the following minimum qualifications for a provisional appointment, if offered;

  • Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:

  • (A) Graduation with an Associate's degree or successful completion of at least sixty (60) credit hours from a college or university; OR,

  • (B) Two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent office clerical or secretarial experience*; OR,

  • (C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.

*Experience as a Teller, Cashier or Sales Clerk will not be considered appropriate experience for the purposes of these minimum qualifications.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: If you are appointed, you will be required to possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State college or university with an associate's degree in office technology or a closely related field

  • Experience using Banner and/or other student information systems

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Experience working with a multi-cultural/diverse population

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

    Additional Information:

Job Type: Full-Time

Hours: 8:45 AM - 4:45 PM

Salary: $38,638.57 with step increment at 6 months
