Function of Position:
Adjunct faculty prepare and teach courses in the department, develop new educational materials, and assist with the assessment of student learning, as appropriate. Classes may be assigned for the Brighton and/or Downtown Campus, extension site, or an online, remote, or hybrid modality, as needed. Adjunct faculty report to the chairperson of the Health and Physical Education Department. The successful candidate will bring a passion for teaching and a desire to support and mentor MCC students as they pursue educational and career goals.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain expertise in the subject area and deliver engaging instruction.
- Teach courses in College Success and/or Career Exploration, following department and college guidelines.
- Design lesson plans and create interactive learning experiences.
- Develop course syllabi and instructional materials in alignment with college standards.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Track student attendance, grades, and other required records, ensuring timely submission.
- Support student retention and completion initiatives.
- Implement innovative and high-impact teaching practices.
- Engage in ongoing professional development in teaching and academic disciplines.
- Demonstrate strong time management and multitasking skills.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the department chair.

Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher in a related field from a regionally accredited institution
- Experience or ability to teach College Success and Career Exploration courses, including in-person and online formats
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, student-centered learning environment
- A commitment to the mission of a comprehensive community college
- Proficiency with technology and dedication to ongoing professional growth
- Daytime in-person availability required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience in a community college
- Knowledge of, or experience in, implementing a variety of teaching strategies
- Awareness of the potential value of technology as a tool for teaching
- Experience with computerized student record management
- Experience and/or training in career development
- Experience and/or training in First Year Experience or college orientation
Additional Information:
Pay Rate for Fall 2024 & Spring 2025: Determined on adjunct rank and ranges from $1,181- $1,441 per contact hour.
Prohibition of Remote Work Outside New York State: Remote work locations outside New York State are not authorized by the College due to out-of-state tax and regulatory implications. In limited circumstances, prompted by business or operational needs, the College may approve requests to work remotely outside of New York State, on a short term, temporary basis.

Monroe Community College is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for possible temporary part-time faculty teaching assignments. These positions are filled on an as needed basis and are on-going recruitment efforts. Adjunct pools are open continuously and applicants are contacted/hired year-round for assignments based on college needs. Those applicants that are selected to move forward with the recruitment process will be contacted to set up an interview.
