Salary: $24.50/Hour Minimum Per Teamsters Contract

Report Times: 6:00am - 2:30pm
Daily Hours: 8.5 (8 Paid)

Civil Service Title: Maintenance Mechanic I
Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus three (3) years of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience as a skilled worker in one (1) or more of the electrical, mechanical or construction trades.
NOTE: Additional experience may be substituted for the high school diploma on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: If you are appointed, you will be required to have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Desired Qualifications:
Three (3) years of experience as a skilled workman in one or more of the electrical, mechanical or construction trades;
Five (5) years of experience in the Mechanical Trades preferred (Electrical, HVAC and Refrigeration Systems);
Five (5) years of experience in Building Mechanical Systems preferred;
Ability to plan, schedule and assign workloads;
Ability to read schematics, perform research, follow instructions;
Ability to provide Capital Project input and recommendations for new equipment;
Ability to attend meetings during and after normal work hours;
Ability to plan Preventative Maintenance and establish procedures;
Knowledge of Maintenance Contracting, writing specifications and the ability to understand and utilize NYS and County contracts; Ability to establish, maintain and follow budget parameters;
Ability to supervise, direct and evaluate employees;
Ability to provide training opportunities to staff;
Ability to establish good working relationships with administration and staff;
Working knowledge of Specific Hazards, Safety Precautions, Training Requirements.
Position Summary/Responsibilities:
Flexibility to include the willingness to attend meetings after normal work hours and respond to emergencies after hours.
