Robotics Coach (part-time)

 

The Nightingale-Bamford School seeks a Robotics Coach for our Upper School Robotics Team for the 2024-2025 school year. The ideal candidate would be passionate about robotics and STEM education, have strong coaching skills, and be able to lead a team of high school students in designing, building, and programming their robot for FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) competitions .

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Coach a team of Upper School students in the design, build, and programming of their robot

  • Organize and supervise team meetings, practices, and competitions, ensuring that students are meeting deadlines and staying on task

  • Provide instruction and guidance to the students on the proper use of tools and equipment

  • Collaborate with other coaches and mentors to support the growth and success of the team

  • Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that promotes learning and growth

     

    TIME COMMITMENT

     

  • Approximately 6 total hours per week supervising three-afternoon team meetings each week during the robotics season (September-April)

  • 2-4 full-day weekend competitions

  • 2-4 full-day weekend meetings

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in coaching or mentoring high school students 

  • Knowledge of Java, or other programming languages, as well as proficiency in using CAD software preferred

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students and promote a positive team culture

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Flexibility in schedule to accommodate after-school meetings and weekend competitions

     

    STIPEND AMOUNT

     

    $9,500 (September 1 - May 31)
