Position Summary
The Program Coordinator at the Center for Prolonged Grief within the Columbia School of Social Work will provide essential administrative support to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Center. This role reports to Dr. Katherine Shear, the Director of the Center, and involves direct collaboration with other team members. The Program Coordinator will be involved in a variety of operational tasks to support the Center's ongoing research and training projects.
THIS POSITION IS PARTIALLY GRANT-FUNDED. CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING.
Responsibilities
- Respond sensitively to bereaved individuals seeking information and referrals for grief and related problems; skilled in performing this function by telephone, email, social media, etc.
- Assist with managing day-to-day Center activities such as plan and organize professional trainings and other Center-sponsored seminars, symposia and other activities, tasks needed to ensure appropriate and timely payments for a range of part time Center staff; administrative support for hiring and trainee/supervisor payments;
- Prepare meeting materials and take meeting minutes when required.
- Manage and maintain a complex calendar and coordinate travel for Dr. Shear; facilitate travel and expense reimbursements; keep Dr. Shear's CV current, provide administrative support for teaching activities; perform all other duties as assigned.
- Monitor and maintain the website and other outreach materials Including email updates and website posts, primary responsibility for Center social media accounts (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, You Tube, blogs, etc.) oversight and management of the Center newsletter including assigning and supervising design and writing of newsletters; supervise more junior staff in assisting with these activities.
- Assist with finalizing reference lists and submission of manuscripts for publication
Research Project Support: Assist with the preparation and administration of the Center's grant-funded projects, including:
- The World Trade Center Survivor Grief Study
- Prevention and Family-Focused Treatment for Prolonged Grief in Parental Suicide Bereavement for Families with Children
- Perinatal Loss Prolonged Grief Treatment Training
- PCORI project: PGDT v PE for co-occurring PGD and PTSD
- Manage and organize documents, track project progress, and prepare reports.
- Update and maintain the Center's website on the WordPress platform
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Minimum of 0-2 years related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of MS Office, Google Drive, Documents and Spreadsheets, experience and skills with using social media and AI.
