Job Description:

Adjunct Nursing Faculty positions are available through the SUNY Morrisville main campus and / or Norwich campus. The SUNY Morrisville nursing department includes an ACEN accredited Associate's degree and an RN-BS nursing program.

Adjunct assignments are dependent on need and may include taking students into clinical rotations in long-term care, medical-surgical, psychiatric, and / or obstetrical nursing areas. Adjunct assignments may also include teaching theory.

According to program need, various teaching modalities and hours may be necessary. This may include utilizing distance learning modalities and / or possible evening and weekend hours. Travel to off-campus sites may be required.

General Responsibilities:

Adjunct nursing faculty are expected to help students achieve their course appropriate student learning outcomes. The adjunct faculty member shall be responsible for the following: teaching assigned classes/clinical groups under the guidance and supervision of the faculty of record and the nursing division director. Frequent and thorough communication between the adjunct, the clinical coordinator, and the faculty of record is required.

Adjunct nursing faculty are required to maintain a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in his/her nursing practice; continue professional development; utilize evidence based practice and current technology in the performance of duties; maintain standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; and fulfill other duties and responsibilities of an adjunct faculty member as outlined in the college faculty handbook

Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited nursing program

Baccalaureate degree required; Master's degree with a major in nursing preferred

Minimum of two years clinical experience

Current NYS Nursing License

Current BLS CPR certification (American Heart Association)

Preferred:

  • Teaching experience

  • Membership in professional organizations
