Bowery Residents Committee Independent Living Specialist - 566 West 182nd Street in Manhattan, New York

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for all aspects of assigned case load, including meeting with clients on a regular basis and ensuring that all clinical files and reports are complete and up to date. Intensively working with clients as they move through the program continuum by assisting residents in obtaining documentation, escorting to designated appointments, securing entitlements, preparation and completion of a comprehensive housing packet (HRA2010E) and make arrangements with housing providers for client’s housing interviews. Build clients’ daily living skills to ensure successful independent living. Facilitate groups within the program model under the direction of the Program Supervisor. Liaison with clinical staff in other BRC or off site programs with regard to clients successful outcomes through the continuum of care. Related duties as assigned.

HOURS:

Full-time 37.5 hours per week

  • Tues-Sat 11am-7:30pm

  • Sun-Thurs 7:30am-4pm

  • Tues-Sat 7:30am-4pm

QUALIFICATIONS:

Significant experience working with a diverse homeless population who have a history of forensic, substance abuse and psychiatric issues. Knowledge of HRA PACT Systems. Good writing and oral communication skills. The ability to muti task while working in a high stress/volume environment. BA preferred, HS Diploma/GED required. Computer literacy required.
