Bowery Residents Committee Employee Relations Specialist - 131 West 25th Street in Manhattan, New York
Job Summary:
The Employee Relations Specialist will assist with labor relations and human resources matters, gathering, collecting, and maintaining documents and records required for contract and policy development, investigations, and negotiations.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Director of Labor & Employee Relations, tasks and duties will include, but will not be limited to:
Oversight of the Work Rules for Absenteeism and Tardiness.
Collaborate with the program leadership to maintain the “attendance points” tracker; proper escalation to Director of Labor & Employee Relations on the coordination and documentation of penalties as needed.
Monitor and track unreported absences, partnering with program leadership, investigating, confirming time & attendance records, drafting recommendations and processing as needed.
Research patterns of excessive absenteeism, conducting investigations, verifying documents, drafting recommendations and processing as needed.
Assists with the administration and record keeping of the agency's disciplinary systems and procedures (i.e., grievances, arbitration, time and attendance, progressive discipline, etc.); maintaining labor and employee relations records as needed;
Handles routine labor relations and human resource inquiries related to policies, procedures, and bargaining agreements; refers complex matters to appropriate management staff.
Assists with the initial interviews and gathers information for employee relations matters such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other concerns; informs appropriate HR staff when additional investigation is required.
Assists with recordkeeping related to hiring, termination, leave, transfer, and promotion particularly as related to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), affirmative action, and diversity initiatives.
Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, affirmative action, collective bargaining, unions, labor relations, and human resources.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Thorough understanding of laws, regulations, and guidelines related to HR and contract negotiations.
Education and Experience:
BA in Human Resources or a relation field and/or background in labor & employee relations required.
P reference for 1 year of professional human resource administration and/or experience in data management and/or administrative filing.
*Vaccination preferred but not required.
HOURS:
Full-time 37.5 hours per week
- Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm
