Bowery Residents Committee Assistant Controller - 131 West 25th Street in Manhattan, New York

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller is primarily responsible for the monthly accounting close for BRC and its affiliated entities and managing a number of general accounting functions and accounting operations including:

  • Preparation of monthly financial statements for BRC for review by Controller and CFO

  • Responsible for timely reconciliation of general ledger accounts for BRC

  • Facilitate the development and submission of reports in conformity with GAAP

  • Oversee and manage the accounts payable department

  • Assist with annual audits and preparation of government mandated reports

  • Performs inter-company reconciliations

  • Maintain fixed assets schedule

  • Completes the annual NYS CFR (consolidated fiscal report)

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

BS/BA in Accounting required. Minimum 6 years of nonprofit accounting experience; advanced analytical skills, superior organizational and communication skills. CPA and/or audit experience a plus. Proficiency with advanced accounting software essential. Excellent computer skills including Intaact or similar non-profit accounting software, MS Excel and Microsoft Word.

HOURS:

Full-time 37.5 hours per week

  • Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:30pm (Hybrid)

    *Vaccination preferred but not required
