$4,000 - Sign-On Bonus for Full-time externals only, pro-rated for Part-time

Medical Office LPN position in the Heart Center Department in Kingston, NY. Full time 40 hours per week, 8 hour shifts. Office is open 8:00am-5:00pm. Shifts vary between 7:30am and 5:30pm.

Summary: To support the physician or advanced practitioner in providing medical care to practice patients. Provides clinical support to clinicians in the practices to assist in the medical needs of the patients.

Responsibilities:

· Prepares materials, supplies, equipment and the patient to assist the physician or the advanced practitioner with the patient's medical exam.

· Obtains the patients history and basic medical data such as vital signs temperature, height & weight, vision & chief complaint.

· Provides direct patient care, such as ear irrigation, vaccinations and medications, wound care & suture removal.

· Assures the examination area is clean and fully stocked after each patient use. Performs environmental rounds on a weekly/monthly basis as assigned.

· Collects, prepares and analyzes patient specimens as directed by the physician or advanced practitioner.

· Performs tasks in the EMR, including but not limited to working the clinical, Rx and clerical pools.

· Maintains infection control standards as directed by Infection Control and Quality Improvement Policies and Procedures

· Instructs the patient and family on how to perform physician recommended preventive care, take prescribed medication, prepare for tests, monitor treatment progress & note symptom changes.

· Contacts the patient by telephone to provide requested follow-up, advise them of test results or relay a physician's instructions.

· Performs organizational responsibilities to achieve the Practice’s and HVI’s missions through a process of total quality improvement.

· Completes all meaningful use requirements.

· Coaches and educates colleagues in office regarding procedures and techniques as new members join the group.

· Performs pathology and other audits as assigned by supervisor.

· Demonstrates and maintains practice-based competencies for in-office surgical procedures if applicable. This includes procedure setup, patient prepping with sterile technique, patient recovery and room turnover under RN direction.

· Interacts with patients and colleagues in accordance with HVI service excellence standards.

· Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Required:

· Licensed Practical Nurse.

· Basic medical knowledge and terminology.

· Computer skills/data entry.

· Skilled in obtaining accurate patient vitals.

· BLS certification.

· Vaccine administration and medication preparation.

Preferred:

· Minimum Experience: one year.

· Proficiency in multiple languages.

· Phlebotomy.

· EKG.

Education Required:

· HS Graduate or Equivalent.

· Graduate of an accredited LPN Program.

Working Conditions:

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Some occupational risk

Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
