Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Community HabilitationFull TimeDirect CareHawthorne, NY, USSalary Range:$18.40 To $19.40 Hourly !!!SIGN ON BONUS!!! - $2.000 FOR FULL TIME, $1,000 FOR PART TIME/PER DIEM!!!!The Direct Support Professional (DSP) for Community Habilitation - Residential (Com Hab-R) plays a vital role in empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live fulfilling and enriched lives. DSPs provide personalized support to individuals, assisting with daily needs, care plans, and fostering appropriate social behavior. They also encourage and facilitate participation in recreational and life-skill-building activities, ensuring a safe, comfortable environment. The primary goal of a DSP is to help individuals lead self-directed lives and engage in their communities in ways that align with their unique interests and abilities.Essential Job Functions:- Help to assess the needs of people receiving support and act as an advocate, ensuring each person receives appropriate services and that their personal needs are met while maintaining optimal health and safety.- Timely completion of daily, weekly and monthly documentation of services and supports and review data for accuracy and completeness.- Complete Behavior Intervention Reports and Medical Intervention Reports as required.- Develop a working knowledge of each person's behavior management program.- Attend Interdisciplinary Treatment team meetings and participate in the on-going development of treatment plans.- Maintain a clean, safe and organized environment and complete daily household chores as scheduled.- Support people to participate in recreational activities, spontaneously and as scheduled- Support people to complete their Activities of Daily Living (AOL) tasks, which may include toileting assistance- Perform delivery of service tasks as assigned by the supervisor which may include transportation, meal supervision and shopping.- Maintain money management protocols for the personal funds of people receiving supports.- Participate in Strategies for Crisis Intervention Prevention (SCIP) training and be able to implement strategies. This may include hands-on-interventions when necessary.- Successfully complete Medication Administration (AMAP) course and dispense medications under the guidance of a Registered Nurse as appropriate.- Attend and complete all scheduled training and maintain required certifications.- Follow federal, state, and local governmental regulatory guidelines pertaining to a safe, healthy, and clean work environment, reporting health and safety concerns to the supervisor.- Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.Qualifications:- Must have a valid Driver's license to drive in New York State.- One year of experience working with an OPWDD population is preferred.- Must successfully complete OPWDD Medication Certification Course at the discretion of the Department Head, CPR, and First Aid course, and SCIP-R training.If you are a caring individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding position.
