Position Summary
SUNY Geneseo is hiring an Employer Relations & Internship Coordinator (hereafter Coordinator) to create and support internships and job placement opportunities for Geneseo students. The Coordinator will collaborate with various stakeholders on and off campus to design and implement employer engagement strategies, develop career and internship opportunities for students, and coordinate career education and exploration events and job fairs. The Coordinator will also develop students’ professional skills, enhance their career readiness, and prepare them to meet the ever-changing industry needs. This is a 12-month professional staff position ( UUP SL3 Senior Career Planning and Development Associate), reporting to both the School of Business and Career Design Center at SUNY Geneseo.
Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in business, communication, or related fields from an accredited higher education institution.
Five years of full-time work experience in business or non-profit organizations.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with and serve diverse constituencies.
Ability to successfully handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
A Master’s degree in business, communication, higher education administration, or related fields.
More than five years of work experience in businesses or non-profit organizations.
Prior work experience in higher education institutions.
Proven track record of success in coaching college students.
Experience working with alumni and employers.

Mentoring and Career Advising
The coordinator serves as a dedicated mentor and career advisor for Geneseo students, providing holistic career development alongside personalized professional development guidance and individual coaching sessions.
Resume and cover letter reviews, career counseling, job search strategies, and coaching on professional licensure and certification programs, etc.

Internship Supervision
The Coordinator supervises School of Business students who pursue internships for credit and evaluates student learning outcomes to ensure continuous improvement.
Supervise about 20 business student interns each semester, including the summer term. Monitor these students’ progress, grade their reflection papers, and input final grades. Provide assessment reports to the school’s assurance of learning committee.

The coordinator will cultivate and manage vital partnerships with for-profit and non-profit organizations to build trusting relationships to secure valuable internships and job placement opportunities for students.
Regularly contact employers and recruiters, manage employer database, and assist with entering and approving employer information in Handshake.

The coordinator organizes PD workshops conjoined with the Student Service Committee in the School of Business. Recruit speakers for the PD workshops. Conducts presentations and webinars periodically.

The Coordinator organizes, coordinates, and supports various career-related events, connecting students with alumni and employer partners.
Coordinate recruitment activities, career expos, employer-site visits, alumni networking, graduate school fairs, and other excursions and events.

Alumni and Business Advisory Council Coordination
The Coordinator plans and coordinates events that engage the School of Business alumni and Business Advisory Council members, partnering with the alumni relationship team to regularly communicate with alumni, prospective employers, and other stakeholders to develop career opportunities for students.
Assist with organizing the business school’s annual fundraising events and alumni events.
Regularly reach out to alumni to serve as event and workshop speakers, recruiters, and voluntary career coaches.
