Chautauqua Institution Videographer & Editor (Marketing)/Seasonal Employment in Chautauqua, New York

Description

The Marketing and Communications (https://www.chq.org/about/staff/departments/marketing-communications-enterprise/) department is responsible for building the brand of Chautauqua Institution through excellence in storytelling, service, sales and support. We are seeking a talented and creative Videographer/Editor to join our summer production team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for capturing high-quality video content, post-producing live events for on-demand viewing, and transforming raw footage into engaging final products. This role requires a strong understanding of video production processes, post-production techniques, and the ability to tell compelling stories through visual media.

About Your Compensation

The compensation for this position is $15.50/Hour.

About Your Work Day

  • Filming live events and capturing audio.

  • Editing videos using Adobe Premiere.

  • Use prior job knowledge to create storytelling and story-board communications.

  • Maintain data and information according to Institution data management guidelines and rules.

  • Assist with production workflows and workflow elements as necessary to achieve objectives.

  • Work in a variety of environments in a safe manner. May be required to: lift up to 50 pounds, work at elevated heights, climb ladders, stairs, or other structures, be surrounded with moderate to loud noise levels.

  • Attend scheduled department meetings.

  • Follow direction from other team members.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organization to achieve goals.

  • Maintain high quality and adherence to all standards of brand imprinting on produced content.

  • Will engage graciously with patrons and other constituents, serving as an ambassador of Chautauqua Institution’s service commitment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    About the Referral Program

    Chautauqua Institution’s Referral Bonus Program (https://www.chq.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/CHQ_ReferralBonus_2024_final.pdf) is a talent solution to recruit, develop, and retain a diverse workforce that encompasses all the skills and experience necessary to deliver on our goals and objectives. Chautauqua Institution will provide a $500 referral bonus (less taxes) for active employees referring a new candidate who is hired and remains employed for at least 90-days from the first physical date of work. In the case of seasonal positions working less than 6-months, the new candidate must remain actively employed for at least 30-days from the first physical date of work and until the closing date of the season. The closing date of the season is the last Sunday in August.

    About Your Schedule

Chautauqua Institution and Chautauqua Hotel Company offer flexible schedules, full and part-time, for seasonal employment during summer operations starting annually each June and concluding in August. Seasonal employment may be available earlier (pre-season) and beyond season (post-season) based on business needs and candidate availability. Schedules typically include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as a requirement. While you will confirm your final schedule with management at the time of an interview and offer of employment, you should generally anticipate the following schedule options for this position:

This position averages between 35 to 40 hours per week. Limited overtime hours may be necessary based on production needs. Scheduled hours may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on production needs.

About Living on the Grounds

Chautauqua Institution may provide limited housing options on our grounds or assist you with locating nearby housing arrangements for select opportunities based on business needs. Housing is not an option for many positions and may be of a cost to you. Candidates should assume there are no employer-provided or employer-assisted housing options available for this position unless it is otherwise stated.

This position may have housing available depending on business need.

Education

Required

  • Bachelors or better in Film & Video Production

Experience

Required

  • 1-3 year: Familiarity and experience with video editing including, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Adobe Media Encoder.

  • 1-3 year: Proficient with Nikon DSLR, BlackMagic or other similar cameras.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop CC a plus.
