JOB DESCRIPTION

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS :

The work involves teaching skills in first aid treatment to students involved in Emergency Medical Training courses. The incumbent on a part-time basis demonstrates the practical applications of skills taught. The work is performed primarily at Erie Community College Campuses and in various outdoor sites in Erie County. Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES :

  • Assists the course Coordinator in the conduct of Emergency Medical Training courses;

  • Teaches application of skills in first aid treatment;

  • Works with student (s) in the practical application of the skills taught.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

Good knowledge and performance in Emergency Medical Training; ability to establish rapport with student (s) to be taught; ability to demonstrate practical skills in Emergency Medical Training; physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Two (2) years of field experience in emergency medical services and currently active in Emergency Medical Training and have current cardio-pulmonary resuscitation provider and instructor cards. Must meet New York State requirements for Cardiac Life Support Instructor Training.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Official transcripts will be required for successful candidates within 30 days of hire.
