Description

Buffalo Hearing & Speech is looking for pediatric Occupational Therapists in the Western New York area to work part time as a Fee for Service employee conducting therapy sessions with young children.

Fee for Service Early Intervention (EI) & Related Services (RSO) cases

  • Children birth - 5 years old in homes, daycares, or school settings.

  • Rates are $39.50 for 30 minute individual EI/RSO sessions.

    BHSC also offers a free continuing education series to employees and our FFS employees are eligible to accrue paid sick leave.

    Job Summary:

    The Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing OT services to children and clients of BHSC whose ability to function is impaired by congenital or developmental disability, physical illness or injury, through examinations, evaluations, diagnosis, prognosis and interventions for the highest functional outcomes.

    Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for evaluation of therapy needs. Participate in the creation of the treatment plan, revising as necessary. Perform occupational therapy procedures as ordered by physician or documented on IEP, Communicate with OT/PT manager as appropriate to evaluate patiene needs

  • Collaborates with OT supervisor, teachers, parents/families, and/or other personnel concerning patient’s care and activities, developing plans for services and/or making recommendations.

  • Complete all paperwork requirements related to patient care (including keeping logs with OT supervisor signatures for the purpose of documenting OT supervising).

  • Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.g. draft evaluation findings, observations, proposed occupational therapy IEP goals,etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.

  • Make recommendations for purchases of specialized program materials, supplies and adaptive equipment.

  • Transports self between multiple sites within the district for the purpose of providing educational occupational therapy to students and clients.

  • Participate in formal staff training, continuing education services and formalized in-service training as appropriate.

  • Performs other related duties requested by your supervisor.

    Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of occupational therapy

  • Thorough knowledge of standards of clinical practice established by the American Occupational Therapy Association

  • Ability to exhibit sound, professional judgment and maturity

  • Strong technology and computer skills

  • Preparing and maintaining accurate records

  • Operating equipment used in Occupational Therapy

    Education:

    Masters in Occupational therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the council of medical education of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association

    Required License/ Registration/ Certification:

    New York State Licensed and Registered as an Occupational Therapist

    Physical Requirements:

  • Physical actions may include, but are not limited to; standing, sitting, bending, lifting, kneeling, squatting, reaching, crawling, running, twisting & turning.

  • Vision, speech, tactical and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.

  • Frequent sitting/ standing and when appropriate, floor sitting with pediatric patients.
