New York University Research Scholar in Brooklyn, New York

NYU's Secure Systems Lab (NYU SSL) is seeking to hire a Research Scholar to join our team and engage in the Center’s applied research and educational activities. The Research Scholar will contribute to the ecosystem of software supply chain security at SSL. They will also work closely with Prof. Justin Cappos to build and deploy practically used technologies to solve real-world problems in software supply chain security.

Research Scholar is expected to:

  • Participate in the development of publications on supply chain security as well as writings for a general audience, and for practitioners in industry and government, in collaboration with other members of NYU's SSL.

  • Participate in research to evaluate the effectiveness of developed technologies, in collaboration with other members of NYU's SSL.

  • Participate in meetings and other lab events and NYU campus life.

Compensation: This position is for 8 months, with an opportunity to renew subject to availability of funds. This is a part-time position, with an expected time commitment of 25 hours per week. In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the base salary for this position is $3,400 per month.

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related discipline.

  • Relevant research experience using Rust, git, and secure coding.

  • Experience working in a team developing open source software.

  • Strong writing and communication skills
