The Lehman College Division of Student Affairs assists students with social, personal, and emotional development with the goal of encouraging intellectual and ethical growth through programs, initiatives, clubs, leadership activities, and various community events. The Division is comprised of five subgroups: 1) Student Transitions and Retention 2) Student Health, Wellness, and Inclusion 3) Leadership and Engagement 4) Career Exploration and Professional Development 5) Varsity Athletics, Intramurals, and the APEX. The division reports to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Student Success.

At Lehman College, CUNY CARES works in collaboration with the Basic Needs Center, which is part of the Student Health, Wellness, and Inclusion subgroup.

Program Description

CUNY Comprehensive Access to Resources for Essential Services (CUNY CARES) is an innovative pilot program aimed at revolutionizing the way health and social services are provided to students attending the three Bronx campuses of the City University of New York (CUNY). The three Bronx campuses are Bronx Community College, Hostos College, and Lehman College. Through a comprehensive, student-centered approach, CUNY CARES seeks to address the diverse needs of the student population and enhance their overall well-being, academic success, and overall college experience. The pilot program aims to demonstrate and evaluate the effectiveness of this integrated model. Based on the outcomes and successes of the pilot, CUNY CARES intends to extend the program to all 25 CUNY campuses.

Position Description

The Campus Coordinator at Lehman College plays a pivotal role in supporting campus-based activities and initiatives to enhance the overall student experience and promote academic success. The position involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and external partners, to facilitate programs and services the address the diverse needs of the campus. The Campus Coordinator works closely with the Lehman College Basic Needs Center and serves as a link between students and available resources, ensuring they have access to essential services. The Campus Coordinator reports to the CUNY CARES Director and to the campus-designated supervisor, the Lehman College Basic Needs Center Director. This is a part-time, NTA position. Some evening hours are required.

Job Responsibilities

The Campus Coordinators will be responsible for these tasks:

Program Coordination: Collaborate with CUNY CARES Director, Basic Needs Center Director, and stakeholders to plan and execute campus-based activities and initiatives in alignment with the goals of the CUNY CARES.

Student Support: Act as a liaison between students and essential service providers, assisting students in accessing health, mental health, food security, housing, and other crucial resources both on and off-campus. Assist with Food Bank operations, as needed.

Outreach and Engagement: Develop outreach strategies to promote awareness of CUNY CARES services and activities within the campus community. Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages student engagement and participation.

Data Collection and Reporting: Collect relevant data and information related to student engagement, services utilized, and project outcomes. Prepare regular reports for the CUNY CARES Director and Basic Needs Center Director to assess the effectiveness and impact of the project.

Resource Networking: Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, and other institutions to expand the network of resources available to students.

Crisis Intervention: Respond to student crisis related to health, mental health, housing, or other urgent needs, and refer students to appropriate services when necessary.

Student Engagement

Supervise campus-based activities of Advocates and Navigators to ensure their activities advance the goals of CUNY CARES and follow program and CUNY ethical and professional standards.

Meet regularly with Advocates and Navigators to identify opportunities for student engagement, education, and outreach.

Develop educational and outreach materials for CUNY CARES activities using a variety of digital, campus and other media

Program Planning, Development and Assessment

Coordinate and oversee the execution of campus events, workshops, seminars, and activities that foster student engagement, professional development, and or academic enrichment.

Meet regularly with other campus coordinators and CUNY CARES director and evaluator to monitor progress towards goals, identify and solve problems and give feedback on campus implementation

Assist CUNY CARES evaluator to document and assess progress towards goals and to communicate findings to students, faculty, staff, and CUNY leaders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications : Candidates with a master’s degree in student services, education, social work, or a related discipline; at least 3 years’ experience providing social or health services to low income young adults; strong interpersonal, communications and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of CUNY and experience working in low income, immigrant, Black or Latinx communities, especially in the Bronx, is highly desirable. Proficiency in Spanish also desirable.

COMPENSATION

$47.42 - $59.00 per hour; salary commensurate with education and experience.
