Guthrie Patient Care Technician - Acut - 2 Ross - Part Time in Binghamton, New York

Position Summary: Provides general support tasks (clinical and non-clinical) for assigned patient care area. Works with other members of the patient care team to deliver care to patients in age groups including newborns, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. In addition, the Patient Care Technician is responsible for venipuncture and specimen collection following Laboratory protocols.

Experience: No previous experience required.

School Education

High School Grad or Equivalent

Essential Functions:

Participates in the delivery of patient care for patients of all age groups under the direction of an RN, including but not limited to: •Lifting, turning, and positioning patients •Observing confused and difficult patients

Patient Contact:

Provides direct care to patients of all ages and interacts with family member when needed.

Education, License & Certification:

Working Conditions:

Frequently exposed to disagreeable sights, sounds, odors, body waste, etc.

Normal office environment. Artificially well-lighted, well ventilated area.

Mental Demands:

Daily stress associated with the care of chronic patient population.

Routine duties requiring judgement in priorities and decisions with defined problems.

Quality Statement:

Caregivers must be active participants in quality improvement processes: 1. Identifying areas where quality improvement processes can be applied. 2. Collecting & organizing quality measurement data. 3. Participating on Quality Teams

Job Hazards:

Some exposure to hazards that might cause serious injury (involving recoup time).

Occasional exposure to hazards that could cause minor injury (first aid-type) or illness.

Daily contact with clients at all levels, including managers and employees.

Licenses and Certifications:

Certified Nursing Aide - PA

Physical Demands:

Normal standing, sitting, stooping, lifting, pushing, or walking.

Occasionally required to push, move, and/or lift 100+ pounds.

Pay Range: $17.00-$26.24 per hour
