NBT Bank Trust Administrator I in Albany, New York
Pay Range: $60,450.00 - $73,892.00
Responsible for the administration of a group of accounts, to include estates, trusts, retirement, and agencies through phone-based client service interactions. Dedicated to ensuring daily client activities are as efficient as possible to provide seamless delivery of customer service. Manages accounts as prescribed by governing document using knowledge of taxation, accountings, investments, and client’s financial objectives in accordance with Division policies and procedures, and governing law. Corresponds with appropriate clients, beneficiaries and professional advisors affiliated with the accounts. Recognizes and develops cross-selling and cross-training opportunities.
Education and Experience:
Associate Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Economics or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 2 years relevant administrative experience in a trust department, charitable or other financial services organization, insurance company, or law firm preferred.
Completion of career specific training such as Cannon Trust or NY Bankers Trust Schools to include coursework in estate administration, trust administration, retirement services and taxation preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, able to research independently and reduce findings to writing.
Strong computer literacy to include Microsoft Office Suite and other proprietary industry software.
Excellent customer service skills; able to organize, coordinate, and outline agendas for client meetings that may include other professionals.
Working knowledge of personal income, fiduciary income, and transfer taxation .
Problem resolution skills.
Tasks Performed:
20% Analyzes and interprets testamentary and intervivos instruments and applies conclusions in the administration of trusts and estates, consulting with senior trust administrators and advisors as needed.
20% Understands and applies fundamentals of personal, fiduciary and transfer taxation, investments, and retirement benefits as it relates to account administration; consults with senior officers as necessary.
20% Administers trusts, estates, retirement, and agency accounts, providing superior customer service, consulting with senior administrators as required.
15% Analyzes trust and estate accountings for accuracy and proper form, to determine that account administration has been properly completed. Reviews conclusions with department manager.
10% Completes annual review of administrative documentation and participates in investment risk analysis of account assets to assure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
10% Completes other duties assigned, including input and feedback to improve work efficiency. Attendance at division sponsored training and membership.
5% Promotes revenue growth through ongoing review of existing relationships within assigned customer base. Provides referrals of findings to internal business partners for follow up.
