Stantec includes progressive Urban Mobility teams housed within our Transportation Infrastructure and Community Development business line that provides future-forward mobility planning, design, and engineering services concentrated in the Northeast region with anticipated cross-office collaboration on projects across North America. As a Senior Associate for Mobility Planning and Design, you will have the opportunity to pursue, lead and work on a wide variety of planning and design projects and help provide immediate supervision and guidance to Stantec business units, design teams, and individuals: developing business strategies, pursuing marketing opportunities, managing projects, assigning tasks, mentoring senior and junior staff, checking work, and maintaining project quality and schedules. The ideal candidate has the credentials and experience to elevate Stantec’s recognition in the market as a leading firm for planning, design, and implementation of Urban Mobility solutions at the highest level. You should be comfortable both independently and as part of a team to develop pursuit strategies, determine teaming arrangements, lead proposals and client presentations, manage multi-modal planning and design projects, lead the planning and design of project teams and their scopes of work, manage project scope and deliverables, provide compliant and technically sound designs, manage, coach and mentor resources effectively, manage stakeholder and engagement processes, and effectively represent Stantec at industry symposiums, client meetings and public events.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Leads teams of planning and design professionals locally, regionally, and nationally in design and implementation of Urban Mobility strategies

  • Develops and/or contributes to the development of local, regional, and national business plans for growth of our Mobility design practice in the Northeast and nationally

  • Identifies and pursues new work and clients that lead to successful project outcomes

  • Maintains and strengthens client relationships and plays a key role in client management

  • Oversees all aspects of a project including planning, scheduling, and budgeting

  • Prepares and oversees the preparation of transportation documentation and technical reports

  • Conducts multi-modal transportation planning analyses

  • Leads or contributes to the preparation of proposals and other marketing endeavors

  • Organizes data collection, guides technical reports, and leads or contributes to various transportation studies

  • Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of other professionals who assists in specific assignments

  • Recognizes when client, audience and technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions

  • Reviews team’s work for accuracy and coordinates with others to ensure quality assurance and quality control for project deliverables

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience in leading a team of Transportation engineering and/or planning professionals

  • Effective in assembling and leading teams on complex pursuits and projects

  • Effective in building and maintaining client relationships

  • Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation

  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to motivate the team to achieve goals

  • Strong knowledge of latest mobility guidance and best practices across multiple modes

  • Excellent technical writing skills; capable of creating reports, letters, and specifications as well as expert meeting facilitation and conference speaking

  • Knowledge and experience using GIS, design software and/or CAD helpful

  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Planning, Engineering, Environmental or related field. AICP, PE, PTP, PTOE or similar certifications preferred.

  • Previous consulting experience and direct work with public and private clients preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience

Position will primarily work in an office or virtual setting; may require some field work and periodic and sometimes frequent travel. Travel requirements are estimated to be at least 15% of the time.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • $94,400 - $141,600 Min/Max Pay Range(s) for postings located in NYC/NY

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
