St. Catherine’s Center for Children Resident Assistant, Marillac (part-time) in Albany, New York

Position Overview: The Resident Assistant serves to ensure a safe, secure, healthy, clean, and positive environment for families as they make their transition from homelessness through after care. This position assists families in service plan implementation by obtaining and providing feedback regarding their progress toward service plan goals. Maintains respect, support, care, and a family atmosphere for residents of the facility and fellow staff members. Position Requirements:•High School diploma / GED Equivalent, required; College degree preferred.•This position requires working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays if needed. Can be subject to change based on program needs.•Proficiency in various computer applications: Microsoft Office Suite, Google Business Workspace Suite; and use secure Internet practices.•A current Clean & Valid New York State Driver’s License (actively licensed at least one year) and reliable vehicle for transporting clients to community resources, meetings, etc. - with proof of 100/300 liability insurance coverage - is required.oStaff in driving positions must be able to meet agency’s minimum requirements of our insurance policy for authorized drivers; including, but not limited to the minimum age of 21 at time of hire.•Previous experience working in a human services agency is a plus!•Formal Crisis Intervention Training (TCI) experience.•CPR/First Aid Certification, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date.•A kind, warm and caring mindset; Capable of exhibiting empathy for those in need.•Capacity and openness to work with populations from culturally diverse and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, including but not limited to a broad range of people with various developmental and functional levels.•Qualities of positivity, flexibility and adaptability; A professional record of integrity, proven reliability and dependability.•Capable of exercising ethical, independent judgment and discretion, handle sensitive data with strict confidentiality.•Ability to pass pre-employment background check requirements, including OCFS fingerprinting.Duties & Responsibilities include:•Establish and maintain professional working relationships with residents as well as other Shelter staff, keeping appropriate personal boundaries in accordance with all agency policies, procedures and practices.•Meet with families on a daily basis to assist them with service plan goals and offer education and instruction regarding daily living skills; act responsibly in providing information and empower residents to identify choices in their daily lives.•Ensure a safe, secure, healthy, and clean environment by making rounds of the property, both interior and exterior, and reporting situations which need attention, and providing follow up as needed.•Document interactions with families, using critical incident reports, intake information forms, progress note section of case files, log, etc.•Assist with orderly transition of families from intake through discharge.•Respect the rights of others and protect all confidential information.•Intervene in crisis situations and assist with conflict resolution as needed by providing mediation and facilitating communication.•Participate in professional development programming on a regular basis at request of supervisor.•Drive clients in agency vehicles to various destinations throughout the Capital Region based on families’ needs.•Clearly communicate concerns and suggestions to supervisor.•Obtain & Maintain CPR/First Aid Certification.•Actively contribute to the maintenance of a “client supportive” and respectful community.•Responsible for answering telephones and supporting reception desk as needed.•Additional position-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.EEO Statement: St. Catherine’s Center for Children is committed to creating a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. Minimum Salary: 18.91 Maximum Salary: 23.58 Salary Unit: Hourly
