We are hiring for a part time Blood Product Distribution Coordinator, Variable shifts

Job Status: Part-Time, Variable shifts needed.

Schedule : Every Saturday 11pm – 7:30am and every Monday and Friday 7am-3:30pm

Location : ConnectLife Headquarters at 4444 Bryant and Stratton Way, Williamsville, NY 14221

Pay: $17.50 per hour, plus $2.00/hr shift differential

Job Summary

Ensure the safe and efficient storage and distribution of blood products to hospitals, while managing blood product inventories. Answer calls or electronic orders for blood products from client hospitals. Inspects all blood products for obvious quality characteristics per the SOP. Perform data entry associated with labeling, storage, ordering, and shipping; maintain and review accurate physical and electronic records .

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

    Experience:

  • Previous clinical experience preferred.

  • Prior experience in a customer service role preferred.

  • Experience in shipping, receiving, or distribution preferred.

  • Inventory control experience preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with a continuous focus on customer service.

  • Must have general computer competencies (i.e., Microsoft Office, data entry, fax/copier).

  • Must be detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to multi-task, able to maintain focus and accuracy through interruptions and emotional stress.

  • Understanding of medical terminology preferred.

    Required Physical Demands:

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and bending.

  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing up to 25 lbs. Occasional up to 50 lbs.

  • Occasional reaching forward, lateral, and overhead.

  • Continuously receiving detailed information through written, electronic, and oral communication.

  • Continuous clarity of vision at near and/or far distances.

    Essential Job Functions:

  • Fills all blood product orders in a timely manner. Provides excellent customer service to hospital clients by responding promptly to inquiries and requests regarding blood availability and estimated time of arrival.

  • Maintain the integrity of the blood products by following strict safety protocols and procedures for handling, labeling, and tracking of blood products, including shipments of recovered plasma products.

  • Perform data entry associated with labeling, storage, ordering, and shipping; maintain and review accurate physical and electronic records .

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all blood product movements and transactions , including hospital credits and transfer. Inspects all products for acceptability and packs blood products for shipment per SOP. Arranges the transport of blood product to hospital.

  • Receives Import shipments that arrive and places them on the correct shelves/bins in the storage units in the correct date order and blood type.

  • Responsible for inventory management of blood products including inventory levels, and proper rotation and storage. Alerts the supervisor or manager of problems or shortages observed. Monitor inventory throughout the shipping process. Check daily activity logs and add imports to activity logs when necessary.

  • Send units for irradiation in a timely manner to avoid product expiration.

  • Processes requests for antigen screened units and samples that need to go out for testing.

  • Monitors the temperature of the blood product storage units. Documents any alarms that occur per SOP.

  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely and accurate delivery of blood products

  • Identify and quarantine products that don’t meet quality requirements and perform disposition of unacceptable product using the PDC app and disposing in appropriate biohazard boxes.

  • Ensure the distribution area is fully stocked with supplies including preparing shipping boxes as needed for transport of blood products. Ensures that they are properly labeled.
